  7. DATA     - contains the actual data sets (with file name extension CDF).
  8.            See the file CDF.DOC in the DOCUMENT subdirectory for references
  9.            to the format of the data and supporting software.

  11. DETAILED - contains comprehensive information about the data sets on the
  12.            disk.  Files are in ASCII: each line of text delimited by a
  13.            carriage return (ASCII 13) and a line feed (ASCII 10).
  14.  
  15. DOCUMENT - contains ASCII text files of documentation about the disk
  16.            structure, data formats and accompanying software.
  17.  
  18. INDEX    - contains comma-delimited index files which may be imported into
  19.            a database program, in order to facilitate searches of the data
  20.            present on the disk.  These files are only present on Disk 2.
  21.  
  22. SOFTWARE - contains software utilities for working with the data sets on
  23.            the disk.  There are separate directories for MS-DOS, HP-UX,
  24.            SunOS, IRIX and VMS utilities, as well as a CDF subdirectory
  25.            which contains the complete CDF distribution set of files.

  27. SUMMARY  - files required by the access software to provide standard
  28.            information for each data set.
